IN THEIR OWN WORDS

The dogs behind the stories

These are individual accounts from owners and handlers, not independently verified clinical evidence or promises of results. Each dog and situation is different. Personal claims about recall, safety or lives saved describe the contributor’s experience and do not establish causation or guaranteed control. Training does not replace appropriate supervision, leads or other safety measures.

Two dogs running together outdoors

Owner or handler account

Her prey drive towards wildlife was an issue from an early age which needed addressing!

Today 2 years on 9 times out of 10 all that is needed for a prompt recall is a clear vocal call & this is due to the training we received

Dachshund wearing a collar outdoors

Owner or handler account

Ended up chasing her across farm fields after pheasants, hares and believe it or not.. stags.

Without that ecollar, I already know the stress it puts on both myself AND her.

With the ecollar, all of that can be avoided - along with keeping my sanity in check

Willow, a border collie, sitting indoors

Owner or handler account

High prey drive very movement sensitive. She would take off after everything and be out of site in seconds.

e collar training has changed both our lives.

Willow now does what a border collie is meant to do run with complete freedom while making amazing decisions around wildlife with no input from me.

Black and tan dog sitting on grass

Owner or handler account

Pulled like a train, zero training, no socialisation skills and was scared witless to everything around him with a high prey drive. His first walks he screamed and was so reactive to dogs, people and situations

I can safely and happily walk him in a public area, amongst other dogs. He can now also enjoy off lead time with friends. Something I never ever thought would happen

Brown dog standing on a beach

Owner or handler account

We were told never to let him off the leash as well never get him back. Tried months intense recall training with treats, absolutely nothing worked. Lack of proper exercise led to him being naughty at home and built up reactivity. A trainer introduced us to ecollar training and it changed our lives and his. He has complete freedom and safety outdoors.

He now runs freely and is a really well behaved pup

German Shepherd resting outdoors

Owner or handler account

Before we introduced an e collar he was reactive on and off lead, we tried for 2 years to try and sort it out with different leads etc and nothing. 6 months with an e collar and he has complete freedom. Offlead most of the time around dogs, children, bikes and whatever else, he is now perfectly behaved at all times.

Couldn't imagine taking it away from him

Xyla, a Doberman, sitting in a field

Owner or handler account

The E collar has been a life saver for us, without it Xyla would be running across roads chasing rabbits due to her extremely high prey drive

The e collar has helped us massively and given my girl so much freedom so I really don't want them to be banned

Murphy wearing a muzzle outdoors

Owner or handler account

It's been so lovely seeing everyone's wide range of dogs enjoying off lead freedom! Here's mine,

Murphy.

Lots of blood, sweet and tears have gone into our training and got us where we are today. The e collar opened up our whole world and I'm so glad we did it. Only regret is not starting e collar training sooner!

Dog standing in a harvested field

Owner or handler account

He was e collar trained in May this year and it's the best thing we could have ever done. He finally has freedom and is reliable and safe.

Also to add, I am Veterinary Nurse of over 20 years, in that time I have never treated a dog for any injury caused by an e collar. I have however seen hundreds of dogs with injuries caused by unreliable recall, including hit by cars, trains, buses and falling into ditches and rivers etc

Ella, a German Shepherd, sitting on a rocky beach

Owner or handler account

Ella and was on death row until we saved her. We have had numerous GSD's over the years but after a lot of training, her drive to attack other dogs and anything that moved faster than a snail we decided to try an e-collar.

Our life changed along with my opinion of them. She now walks with a large pack on a regular basis and is an ambassador for the breed! She loves her collar and it gives her so much more freedom.

Dante looking up indoors

Owner or handler account

This is my boy Dante, he's e-collar trained and loves the freedom it gives him.

German Shepherd lying beside a door indoors

Owner or handler account

The E collar has literally saved his life, Before he was reactive to everything, cars, bikes, people with hoods on and dogs.

He's now enjoying freedom as he should do, he comes to the pub with us for a Sunday roast and gets as much freedom as he deserves but this would not be possible without the e collar.

Sam, a German Shepherd, on a beach

Owner or handler account

This is my boy, Sam, rescue GSD. He has been e collar trained by a brilliant group of balance trainers in Harrogate. The e collar has changed our lives for the better.

Four dogs sitting together beside a fallen tree

Owner or handler account

My rescue bully with other rescues who also have a history of reactivity.

They're all able to enjoy doing what dogs are meant to do because of e-collar training

Anatolian Shepherd standing on a moorland path

Owner or handler account

Anatolian Shephard. They're renowned for being stubborn and thinking for themselves. The only reason I trust him off lead is an E collar.

His life and quality of walks are transformed with it.

We also live on 36 acres, most of which is unfenced so need to communicate with him over quite some distances to recall him

Xena, a black dog, sitting outdoors

Owner or handler account

Xena was a rescue pup that was found on the streets and had a huge prey drive for anything that moved, was extremely anxious around people and other dogs.

She's been ecollar trained now for about 6 months and it's like having a completely different dog. She's so chilled out now around people and dogs, she listens when recalled

Dog wearing a green jacket on an autumn path

Owner or handler account

the e-collar has completely changed my dog's life and mine. My dog used to struggle with anxiety constantly, unable to fully enjoy walks or explore the world around him.

Since we've used the collar responsibly, he has gained confidence, freedom, and the ability to be safe off-lead in ways that were impossible before. It's given him a life that's full and happy, and it's given me peace of mind.

Dog wearing an orange vest beside a walking route sign

Owner or handler account

A few bad experiences with off-lead dogs and following the rescue's advice to castrate him ended up making him even more nervous and reactive. Suddenly, he was restricted to a long line.

For a dog bred to chase rabbits, was that really a life?

Since starting e-collar training, he enjoys off-lead freedom, comes when called, ignores livestock and wildlife

Dog running towards the camera on grass

Owner or handler account

He was a horror for resource guarding, especially food, and his recall was pretty nonexistent.

it has changed my life for the better, my dog is happier, healthier and very comfortable with his place in our family, knowing without doubt our expectations.

He is a changed dog who is now a joy to be with, indoors and out

Pip standing on a rock overlooking the countryside

Owner or handler account

Problem with the 5m line was that not only had she put me on the floor a few times, but a line didn't stop the act of chasing, it just limited it to 5m

Now Pip has 100% recall and, as a consequence, enjoys 5-7 mile offlead walks each day.

Dog holding a ball beside its handler

Owner or handler account

We have a dog here that didn't react well will with other dogs

As a dog owner I know that when I am out with her she is safe, I have 100% control of her and I can't imagine having that taken away

Brindle dog looking up on a woodland path

Owner or handler account

Without the collar we never would have achieved recall for it to be safe for him to be off lead in these situations.

Without it I wouldn't now be able to whistle him off a rabbit!

we never would have got where we are now without one, and I would not be as connected to my dog, or understand him as well as I do

Brown Labrador and black dog sitting together in a field

Owner or handler account

One was highly reactive and unsafe around people and dogs. The other was overly friendly, had no recall, and nearly lost her life running into traffic

Under the guidance of an experienced, ethical behaviourist, e-collars were introduced correctly and fairly.

The result? Two calm, confident dogs with reliable recall and the ability to live full, safe lives off lead.

Rottweiler sitting outdoors at sunset

Owner or handler account

The E-collar was a game changer for us, there is no way he would have the freedom he does without it.

We can walk right next to livestock and he isn't interested he just sniffs away in his own little world, we can watch deer run across the fields infront of us and he will quite happily watch them running by
