Welcome to NAPET
National Association For Professional E-collar Training
“NAPET exists to bring clarity, standards, and ethical responsibility to e-collar training. These are specialist tools, and our role is to ensure they are understood, regulated, and used in ways that genuinely protect dog welfare.”
~NAPET
We are a professional body dedicated to supporting ethical, responsible and professional E-collar training within the UK dog industry.
NAPET exists to provide clarity, leadership and structure in an area that is frequently misunderstood.
E-collars are specialist training tools that require appropriate knowledge, experience and ethical responsibility. NAPET promotes their responsible use by establishing clear professional expectations and supporting education led practice.
NAPET also recognises the changing regulatory landscape surrounding dog training tools. Under the UK Government’s Animal Welfare Strategy, Defra has indicated its intention to bring forward a public consultation on the use of E-collars in England, with a view to potential legislative restriction or prohibition.
In response, NAPET is preparing to engage formally with the forthcoming consultation process. The association will seek to challenge proposals for a blanket ban by contributing professional expertise, practical experience, and informed analysis, with the aim of ensuring that any future policy decisions are proportionate, evidence-led, and aligned with real-world dog welfare considerations.
NAPET is committed to constructive public engagement and informed discussion. The association’s role is not to promote tools indiscriminately, but to ensure that responsible, ethical E-collar training is properly understood, clearly distinguished from misuse, and fairly represented in public and policy debate.
NAPET exists to provide a credible, professional voice for responsible E-collar training, focused on education, standards and the long term welfare of dogs.
