Who we are

NAPET (National Association for Professional E-collar Training) is responsible for the personal information collected through this website. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email info@napet.com.

What we collect

  • Trainer register of interest: your business name, name, email address and county or region, plus anything else you choose to tell us: phone number, website, social media links, a short bio, years of experience, how often you use e-collars, and what you would expect to pay for accreditation.
  • Supporter sign up: your name and email address, plus your county or region and which best describes you, if you choose to tell us.
  • Contact and newsletter forms: the details you enter, such as your name, email address and message.
  • Evidence submissions: your name, email, contributor information and case descriptions. Please keep case descriptions anonymous and do not include other people’s identifying details.
  • Testimonials, photographs and videos: the story, media, contact details and permission choices you provide. Images and recordings can identify people even if their names are omitted.
  • Surveys: the answers you give. Where a survey asks for your email address, giving it is optional.

Why we use it

  • To contact you about NAPET's accreditation scheme, if you have registered your interest.
  • To send you updates about NAPET's work, consultations and surveys, if you have joined as a supporter.
  • To reply to messages you send us, and to send you updates if you have signed up for them.
  • To understand the experience and views of trainers and owners, so we can develop fair standards and fees. We only ever publish survey results as totals, never in a way that identifies you.

Stories, photographs and video evidence

Submitting material for review is not blanket permission to publish it. Identifiable testimonials, names, photographs or videos require separate permission for the specific material, attribution and publication channels agreed with you. Do not submit identifiable material about another person unless you have appropriate permission. We can consider anonymous or aggregated material where it cannot reasonably identify anyone.

To withdraw publication consent or request a correction or removal, email info@napet.com or use our Contact form. Withdrawal does not invalidate earlier lawful use. We will stop future use based on that consent and address copies under our control; copies already downloaded or shared by others may not be recoverable.

Our lawful basis

We rely on consent for optional updates and agreed publication of identifiable stories or media. We rely on our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and reviewing information voluntarily sent to us for the stated purpose, subject to your rights. A declaration that a submission is accurate is not, by itself, consent to public use. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing info@napet.com.

Who sees it

Nonpublic submissions are for authorised NAPET personnel who need them to handle enquiries, administration or evidence review. Our website, form and email service providers also process information to deliver those services. We use Squarespace for this website and its forms, and Google Forms for some surveys. Material approved for public use can be seen by website visitors and, where separately agreed, audiences on other named channels. We do not sell personal information.

How long we keep it

If you register your interest as a trainer, we keep your details until applications for NAPET accreditation open, and then for 12 months. If you apply, your details become part of your application. If you join as a supporter, we keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We keep other information only for as long as we need it for the reason you gave it to us, and we review what we hold at least once a year. You can ask us to delete your details sooner at any time.

For Contact, Testimonials and Evidence Submission records, our retention policy is a review at 12 months and deletion or anonymisation when the original information is no longer needed. A documented ongoing enquiry, complaint, agreed publication or legal obligation may justify longer retention. Publication permissions must be retained while the material is used. These are manual reviews, not automatic deletion; completing a reminder does not establish that records have been reviewed or removed.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email info@napet.com and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Privacy concerns and complaints

For a privacy request, contact info@napet.com. Complaints can be sent to complaints@napet.com, with a copy to info@napet.com. You can also complain directly to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if anything changes, and show the date of the latest update at the top.
